Our Mission

Co-founders Jon and Renée Laaser created Laaser’s Ladybug Society in March of 2022 with the dual missions of combating the stigmas attached to mental health through educational initiatives while actively fundraising to raise funds towards that aim. While the conversation surrounding mental health in this country has expanded, it hasn’t adequately kept pace with the explosion in those that suffer. As the two have both risen, but incongruently, the result has been the birth of a subtle, yet critical endemic that threatens the sustained happiness of both present and future generations. The Society strives through multiple avenues to bring those two closer together so those that seek help in their lives have access to it.

The Society prides itself on being an all-inclusive society that serves all ages while also catering events that allow participation from everyone. The Society also prides itself on being an innovator in the philanthropic space, hosting unique events, while also approaching mental health education through personal experience. Initially, The Society was conceptualized as an event-based charitable endeavor, based in Richmond, VA, but as support for the Society swelled, the Laaser’s realized that they could also use their vast experience in sports, broadcasting, public speaking and writing to further their mission.

In the short time that The Society has been operational, the Laaser’s have been overwhelmed by the level of support in both conventional and unconventional ways. As the mission continues, The Society eagerly invites everyone to participate in any way they can and are comfortable doing so. The many roles that members of The Society fill include; event participant, volunteer, professional services, speaker and donor. If you have a desire to join the mission, please reach out.
